“IMAGINATION IS INTELLIGENCE WITH AN ERECTION“
There’s a few things recently that have piqued my interest:
THE Xstat Syringe
Hemorrhage is a leading cause of death on the battlefield. The Xstat syringe can seal a gunshot wound in 15 seconds by injecting the soldier with special sponges.
Realtime touch neuroprosthetic:
Professor Silvestro Micera and his team from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) Switzerland have developed a mind-controlled prosthetic hand able to transmit sensations back to the user. Dennis Aabo Sørensen, who lost his hand in an accident nine years ago, was able to feel different kinds of pressure with three fingers of his new hand.
Single molecule LED
The device is formed from a single polythiophene wire placed between the tip of a scanning tunneling microscope and a gold surface. It emits light only when the current passes in a certain direction. The Institut de Physique et de Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg have taken us one step closer to molecular computing.
And finally, the one i’ve been waiting for:
DISHES THAT CLEAN THEMSELVES:
Developed by researchers at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, these dishes have a special coating that “repels water, dirt, and oil almost like a magnet, so you don’t have to use anything to clean it off,” says Hanna Billqvist, one of the designers. This coating already exists in other forms, chiefly in paint and certain fabrics, but this is the first time it’s planned to be food safe. This could be a novel way to reduce your carbon footprint because you’ll be using less water and electricity to heat a bowl of water everyday. Over a year that would really mount up. Another practical use would be in commer
